Delivery Information and Charges


Introduction


At Fireplace World we take delivery to our customers very seriously. We understand that our customers want quality products at the cheapest Internet prices, but that they also want their purchases delivered safely and as cheaply and quickly as possible.

We therefore employ two delivery methods:
  • For "boxed" fires under 20 kg in weight (such as individual electric or gas fires) - Quality NEXT DAY Courier Services such as Fed Ex, UPS, DHL or Interlink.

  • For larger, heavier or delicate items (such as fire surrounds, glass mounted fires, fireplace suites or full fireplace packages) - Our own team of 'in house' PROFESSIONAL HOME DELIVERY specialists (Hearth and Home Distribution).

SPECIAL OFFERS - As part of our web marketing campaign we will occasionally offer special deals on delivery, particularly during quite times. Most typically we will offer our HOME DELIVERY service free in delvery zones A, B and C (see below for a definition of our delivery zones) but note that this offer, when available, will also be strictly time limited. On very rare occaisions we will also offer FREE DELIVERY on NEXT DAY ITEMS but not normally as this is an external charge to our business that we cannot easily try to recoup through internal efficiency savings. Watch out for this deal!

OTHER NEWS - Professional home delivery has now been reduced from 21 to only 14 days (see below for details).

Next Day Courier Service

Items to which this service applies: Boxed gas or electric fires and accessories such as trims and frets, under 20kg in total weight but excluding any delicate items (for details of what items will be next day delivery see our individual items pages).

Most courier deliveries will be NEXT DAY to most of mainland UK if your order is received before 11.30 AM, Monday to Thursday. NEXT Day delivery to the more remote parts of the UK (such as postcode districts AB, PH, IV, PH etc.) and Northern Ireland, however, can take up to 2 to 3 days.

General Exceptions: Standard NEXT DAY orders taken before 11.30 AM on Friday will normally be delivered the following Monday. NEXT DAY orders placed on late Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be delivered the following Tuesday. NEXT DAY orders placed just before or on Bank Holidays will also be similarly delayed. For example, for Good Friday/Easter Monday orders placed after Wenesday 11:30 hrs will not be delivered untill the following Wednesday.

Cost: At present we operate this service at a standard charge of £8.95.


Professional Home Delivery Service

Items to which this service applies: Any item over 20kg in weight, e.g., full fireplace suites and packages; marble, limestone and granite fireplaces; surrounds etc. and all delicate items.

Our professional home delivery teams have many years of experience in expertly delivering our product range. When you first place your order it will be automatically allocated a delivery date. The delivery team will then ring you to confirm that this date is acceptable. On the actual day of delivery our drivers will ring you before they set off to let you know whether they will arrive in the morning or afternoon. They will also provide you with an approximate delivery time. They will then ring you approximately one hour before they actually arrive at your home, so if you have provided a mobile telephone number you do not have to wait in.

If you wish, when our delivery team arrives they will unpack and inspect each item and carry them to where you require your items to be located (in this case it is recommended that you always clear a space beforehand). Note, it is also in your own interest for you to also fully inspect each item as it is unpacked to avoid later disappointment if there are any marks or damage. The driver will then finally ask you to sign that you have inspected your goods are happy with what you have received. If you are unhappy do not sign and the driver will bring the items back to our warehouse for further inspection. Finally, if your item is unpacked for you, all packing material will be collected and taken away by our drivers for re-cycling.

Cost: Our professional home delivery charge is based on your distance from our main warehouse (located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire) and on your relative accessibility. We currently service the following 6 delivery zones, based on UK Post Code Districts:

Zone B Far Local (and Glasgow-Edinburgh) £19.95
Zone C Southern and Central UK £24.95
Zone D Far UK £49.95
Zone E Remote UK £79.95
Zone F Northern Ireland £89.95

Areas to which we do not deliver: Currently, we can only offer our professional home delivery service to UK Mainland destinations and Northern Ireland. Areas such as the Isles of Scilly, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of White, Isle of Man, Inner and Outer Hebrides, Orkneys, Shetland and the Republic of Ireland are not serviced. However, if you live in one of these areas and wish delivery to a UK shipping agent please use our telesales line (08448 809 340) to place an order.

Delivery Schedule: For Zones A to C we aim to deliver your goods within 21 working days (now 14 days). Normally, delivery will be sooner than this, but to compensate for busy periods we set this as our general target. For zones D to F delivery can be up to 28 days. Please note that once you have placed your order you will be contacted by our delivery team with a firm date for delivery, normally within the above targets.
