Electric Fire Technical Guide

Electric Fire Guide for Adam Fires

Inset electric fires are highly versatile. This guide will explain each of the different scenarios, and help you work out which is the most applicable electric fire or fireplace to you.

Semi-Recessed Unit

Most of the wooden fireplace surrounds supplied by Fireplace World come with removable rebate strips. These strips are located on the inside of the legs of the fire surround and determine where the back panel of your fireplace sits against the surround. With the rebate strips attached, a marble back panel sits flush with the wall. However, if there is no builder's opening, into which the fire can sit, the fire will appear to protrude excessively into the room. By removing the rebate strips, the back panel can sit away from the wall, creating 3" of depth into which the fire can sit. This allows one of the outer spacers to be removed (Fig. 1) and so the fire is not as obtrusive adding to the attractiveness of the fire and fireplace.

Freestanding Unit

All of our electric fires are supplied with one spacer attached to the fire as standard (Fig. 2). Additional spacers can be ordered to enable the fire to be freestanding. This means that the fire can sit flush up against a wall or back panel, if needed.

If your fireplace has a back panel that is flush up against the wall, then the fire must be installed with both spacers attached for the fire to sit correctly against the back panel.
